New Build
|
Ohio University embarked on the construction of a state-of-the-art Chemistry Building, emphasizing the importance of maintaining consistency in furniture styles across their campus. In partnership with LOTH, the university ensured continuity by involving them in the planning process. Collaborating closely with university professionals, LOTH facilitated the realization of the institution’s vision for the new building. This collaboration extended beyond mere consultation, as they actively engaged with the work studio and visited Steelcase in Grand Rapids.
The project addressed several key stakeholder concerns, including the creation of more collaborative workspaces, harmonizing the overall design with existing environments, and leveraging the new building as a tool for talent attraction and retention.
Solutions included:
- Creating more collaborative environments
- Open Forum labs that enable professors to engage with students
- Small conferencing areas for professors and students
- Private Offices for Faculty
- GA office off of labs to help with 1 on 1 instruction
“The new and enlarged collaborative learning spaces will provide more
spaces for group learning” Dr. Stephen Bergmeier, Professor and Chair
of Chemistry & Biochemistry.
